Facts & Figures

When analysing the price of any commodity, electricity included, it's critical to see it in both historical and wider contexts. The cost of a fuel may have increased but perhaps it is coming off a low base? Is it rising faster than those of other comparable fuels?

This section of the website aims to supply the background to price changes. While the focus remains on electricity, there is an opportunity to see how the main heating fuels measure up with each other. The site will provide as far as is reasonably possible an up to date league table on the costs of heating homes with different fuels.

As well as the home heating comparison, we will aim to provide  facts and figures about the global energy industry. A key source of information is the firmus energy index which is published on a monthly basis and offers a guide on wholesale prices reflecting usage in Northern Ireland.
